Of phone calls

BEFORE
Me : Amma, how are you?
Amma : You tell me first.. How are u doing? Are u eating well?
Don't have oats or cornflakes for breakfast.. don't be lazy to make idlis..Don't forget to check if the door is locked properly... Don't read too much and strain your eyes.. or sit in front of the laptop for a long time.. ETC.

AFTER
Me : Amma, how are you?
Amma : let that be.. You tell me first.. How is panju doing? Are you sterilizing his feeding bowls & spoons properly? Don't bring the porridge anywhere near him when its too hot.. Don't be busy reading while he's playing, or he'll put something in his mouth... btw what's he doing now? sleeping?? then why did u call now?u can take rest only when he's sleeping...

:) See how things change when you have a kid. Everyone and everything else becomes less important.

Though I agree with Ava & WIAN but I will also add that Mom's have one track mind. They are always more interested in our well being and rest all ceases to exist for them.

Av, Wian, Smi-
Out of the many congratulatory msgs that I got once I gave birth, one was this "Life would never be the same, be warned!". How true that is in all aspects...

This phone conversations I've mentioned came to my mind last night for no reason and I was smiling away at how the routine questions have had such a sea change!!

and Smi ur right. Even when my baby used to scream uncontrollably, my mom used to say "that's alright, u finish ur lunch first, I'll sing and pacify the baby"

hard to give up your place centre stage, isnt it? but moms are moms, and under all that grand baby love, they love their own babies first :)
